Cycling Tourism in the Karkonosze Mountains - An Adventure on Two Wheels
The Karkonosze Mountains and the area around the Lodge of What the Soul Desires offer unforgettable opportunities for cycling tourism, both for those who enjoy a leisurely ride and for lovers of more extreme experiences on specially prepared single tracks.
It is worth remembering that the Karkonosze National Park imposes certain restrictions on bicycle traffic to protect this beautiful natural environment.
Rules of Bicycle Traffic in Karkonosze National Park.Cyclists are allowed to move only on designated trails and internal roads in Karkonosze National Park. Here are some of these locations:
- I Sudeten Road,
- Upper and lower internal road in the area of Mount Szerzawa and Kopista,
- Blue Trail from Przesieka and Borowice to Karkonoska Pass,
- Urszula Road,
- Red Trail to the PTTK Shelter at Nad Łomniczką,
- Internal road under Chojnik (near the municipal activity center in Sobieszów).
It is important to follow these rules to protect the unique natural environment of the Karkonosze.
Proposals for Guests of the Lodge WHAT THE SOUL DESIRES
Below we present our proposals for cycling routes available to guests of the Lodge of What the Soul Desires. For each of these routes, we have prepared GPX files for download for navigation, phone, or watch, to make it easier for you to navigate and enjoy the beautiful views of the Karkonosze.
When planning a trip from our lodge, pay attention to the elevation changes on the route. If you don’t have calves like Szurkowski, consider an electric-assisted bike. Our Lodge is located at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level, which is a challenge for any cyclist.

1. Lodge of What the Soul Desires - Szklarska Poręba
Distance 14.2 km, elevation gain 290m up, 200m down
The route is not demanding and follows the Road Under the Ridges. It is a wide forest trail with minor elevation changes.

The Giant singletracks are a paradise for advanced cyclists who love the thrill on trails filled with technical descents and challenges. Get ready for action and test your skills on some of the most demanding routes in the Krkonoš Mountains.
70 Km of Pure Adventure.
These trails bear the names of Slavic gods and demons: Perun, Utopiec, Doppler, Zmora, Borowy, Poświst, Skarbek, Licho, Błotnik, Rokitnik, Skrzat, Jaga, Leszy, Czart.
The Giant singletracks are divided into two loops: Piechowice and Przesieka. The location of the Cottage of What the Soul Desires allows you to quickly access either of these loops. Choose your challenges and spread your adventure over two days, discovering each trail separately and riding them "in a chain."
We will start the Przesieka trails from the single "Licho" above our cottage, and you will find the entrance to the Piechowice loop at the "Srebny Widok" parking lot, descending from the Cottage of What the Soul Desires. Each section of the trail is an opportunity to discover new landscapes and enjoy the views.

3. Bicycle Route "Through the Valley of Palaces and Gardens" - A Unique Adventure from the Cottage of What the Soul Desires
Distance 61 km, elevation gain 640m up, 670m down (mainly uphill and downhill from our Cottage :)
Setting off on a cycling expedition from the Cottage of What the Soul Desires, you are in for an unforgettable journey through the Valley of Palaces and Gardens. Following this route, you will have the opportunity to admire the architectural treasures of past centuries. Here is a true blend of culture and history.

2. Valley of Palaces and Gardens - Loop from the Cottage of What the Soul Desires
Distance 61 km, elevation gain 710 m up, 730 m down
This bike route is a true paradise for lovers of history and nature. Start your journey at the Cottage of What the Soul Desires and pedal through the Valley, where you will encounter Renaissance palaces surrounded by beautiful gardens and wild landscapes. It’s not just a bike ride, it's an authentic experience. Some palace facilities have restaurants.

2.Short trip to the Cottage of What the Soul Desires - Podgórna Waterfall
Distance 4.06 km, elevation gain 110m up, 100m down
Your journey leads you towards the third largest waterfall in the Polish part of the Karkonosze Mountains - Podgórna Waterfall. This charming waterfall is a perfect place to relax and connect with nature. On hot days, you can cool off in the refreshing stream here.
